What is the gospel?
The gospel is God’s grace in Christ. It is a proclamation of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, then died on the cross in the place of sinners in order to pay their penalty. But he did not stay dead. Jesus rose to life on the third day, defeating death and sin.
By his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus has secured life for his people. By grace, we are no longer defined by death but by eternal life in Christ.
This eternal life is for all who respond to the gospel with repentance and faith. To repent is to turn away from sin and to run toward God. Faith is looking to Jesus Christ alone for our hope, forgiveness, joy, and eternal life. To believe the gospel is to trust in Jesus alone and to find rest in him.
